Legal Framework of Regulatory Investigations
This self-directed course will help experienced inspectors learn more about the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, also referred to as the Charter, and its impact on regulatory inspections and investigations. Learners will also analyze key legal cases that have helped to further define the difference between inspections and investigations and the changed role and powers of the inspector. In the prerequisite courses, inspectors were introduced to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Principles of Fundamental Justice, and the Rule of Law. This course will explain how the Charter and these concepts provide the legal basis for inspection and investigation.
