Mandatory Learning Activity (Duration and source)

ℹ️ The following learning activities are mandatory for managers of Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada. Contact your Branch or Directorate/Centre learning team for any additional mandatory learning. Managers are also required to complete all mandatory learning for employees.

Employee mandatory learning

•  All mandatory learning on the Employee mandatory learning checklist 28 hours for HC or 34 hours for PHAC 

Leave and Pay

• HR-to-Pay for Managers (COR137) - 4 hours/ CSPS. **Managers who complete COR137 are exempt from FON308.

People and Wellness

• Values and Ethics Foundations for Managers (FON302) 2 hours/ CSPS. Managers who complete FON302 are exempt from FON301.

ℹ️ Values and Ethics in the Workplace for Managers has been replaced by the Canada School of Public Service course, Values and Ethics Foundations for Managers (FON302) and will be recognized as the mandatory course to be completed by HC and PHAC managers. Managers who take FON302 are exempted from requiring FON301.

Performance Management

• Performance Management for the Government of Canada (COR109) 1.5 hours/ CSPS

Prevention of Harassment and Violence and OHS

• Harassment and Violence Prevention for Managers and Committees/Representatives (CSPS) (WMT102) 1 hour/ CSPS

ℹ️ Please note, WMT102 expires every 3 years and employees must renew their training to ensure compliance with mandatory training.

Unconscious Bias

• Inclusive Hiring Practices for a Diverse Workforce (COR120) 2 hours/ CSPS

Recommended Learning Activity (Duration/ Source)

Employee mandatory learning

• Managers are also encouraged to complete all recommended learning for employees (19.5 hours).

Cultural Competency

• Making a Difference in Supporting the Careers of Indigenous Employees (IRA144) 3 hours / CSPS

Career Development

• Labour Relations in the Federal Public Sector (COR110) 3 hours

Leadership

• Leading Through Inspiration (TRN432) 1 hour / CSPS
