Description

Course Objective: Responsible Building Authorities (RBAs)¹ and Most Senior Officials (MSOs)² act on the behalf of the employer to ensure the health and safety of building occupants by implementing duties, as prescribed in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation and policies, and through monitoring OHS activities in the workplace. 


This 90-minute virtual classroom session, hosted by the Corporate Occupational Health and Safety Program, presents the roles and responsibilities of RBAs and MSOs and outlines the network of partners, both corporate and local, that are available to support them in their role.


The following themes will be covered:

Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Policy

Workplace Health and Safety Committees and Representatives

Building Emergencies and Evacuations

First Aid and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

Accident and Incident Reporting (for Building-wide events)

Building Maintenance and Real Property

*Special Topic* Overview of expectations for RBAs and MSOs in the context of COVID-19. 


¹ The RBA is the highest ranking official of a federal organization in a building having the largest number of employees at that location (i.e. the major tenant).


² The MSO is the highest ranking official of each federal organization in a building having employees who regularly work at that location.
