Description

Employee Onboarding describes the longer process of integrating new hires into the workplace and can take place over the first few weeks and months. Effective Onboarding helps new hires learn about and connect with the company culture, understand expectations and build networking relationships. A thoughtful onboarding journey improves engagement, accelerates productivity, and boosts long-term retention.

Orientation is a brief, one-time event aimed at quickly introducing new employees to the company. Employee orientation is a small part of the longer onboarding process. All new hires typically go through the same orientation program.

The HC and PHAC New Employee Onboarding program is a Corporate-led program which introduces you to the department and agency, while your manager and team will support your integration into the team and role for which you have been hired.

The New Employee Onboarding program is made up of two modules offered in the language of your choice:

  1. A self-paced, online e-module for completion within your first month on the job, New Employee Onboarding E-Module (CO001). This module presents information on numerous subjects of relevance to employees, and remains in your myLEARNING dashboard as a reference tool, and;
  2. A two-hour virtual orientation session entitled People and Program” (CO002), which introduces you to the organizational culture, and provides you with an opportunity to network with fellow newcomers and a panel of experienced managers and directors. This program is offered

The Student Orientation Program (CO006) is designed specifically for students to provide information that is relevant to you during your term(s) at HC and PHAC. Offered virtually by the Student Office two to three times per term, these unilingual (EN or FR) sessions aim to support you by providing relevant information, resources, and access to subject matter experts.
