Description

Health Canada, as part of the Health Portfolio, has a Sex- and Gender-Based Analysis Plus (SGBA Plus) Policy which provides a mandate to integrate SGBA Plus in the department. Health Canada also has an SGBA Plus Action Plan which outlines its approach to implement the Policy. The Action Plan includes a logic model and indicators to assess progress.

The Health Canada SGBA Plus Learning Path aims to provide management and employees a framework to develop SGBA Plus capacity within the department. This supports progress to carry out the Policy and Action Plan, mainly by ensuring that SGBA Plus is used to frame, develop and implement all HC initiatives.

SGBA Plus uses an intersectional approach to support equity, diversity and inclusion principles in the Policy. Course options include more focussed learning on topics such as anti-racism, accessibility and culturally distinct Indigenous perspectives.

The SGBA Plus Centre of Excellence (SCOE) provides leadership to implement SGBA Plus at Health Canada. The SCOE advises and collaborates with senior management, branch leads and colleagues to provide oversight, direction, support and monitoring of the ongoing practice of SGBA Plus in the Department.
