Pre-Requisite: Completion of the GC course Introduction to Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus) (INC 101) is a requirement to attend.

This course is designed to be exploratory, interactive, and dynamic. A brief review of foundational concepts will be followed by a detailed overview of the Sex and Gender-based Analysis Plus (SGBA Plus) process. Participants will apply SGBA Plus by working through a tailored case study formulated for the public health context.

After participating in this course, you should be able to:

• Identify foundational concepts and policy context of SGBA Plus

• Understand and question internal biases

• Build an understanding of intersectionality and the 5-step SGBA Plus process

• Apply an intersectional SGBA Plus approach in your work

The course is facilitated by the Centre for Intercultural Learning at Global Affairs Canada.

November 27th session is reserved for Data, Surveillance and Foresight Branch (DSFB).

More dates of this course will be offered between Jan-Mar 2025. Stay tuned for related communications or contact the Health Equity Integration Team for more information.

SGBA Plus is an analytical, intersectional approach used to assess how factors such as sex, gender, age, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and other factors intersect and interact with each other and broader systems of power.
