Description

The Indigenous Cultural Competency Learning Team invites you to attend a hybrid film screening featuring “Birth of a Family”, a deeply moving documentary by award wining Indigenous director Tasha Hubbard.

This documentary chronicles the reunion of four Indigenous siblings who were separated as infants during the Sixties Scoop and are meeting for the first time in adulthood. Their story offers a poignant and personal window into the enduring effects of colonial policies on Indigenous families and communities.

This event is an opportunity for learning, reflection, and discussion. The film will be followed by a facilitated discussion with a 60s Scoop survivor who will share their lived experience.

This discussion will also provide a space to share ideas, emotions, and pathways for the future.
