Description
This self-directed course will help ROEB inspectors and Compliance & Enforcement (C&E) specialists within the Health Products Compliance Risk Management Division to strengthen their understanding of the legal frameworks that guide inspection and enforcement activities.
Learners will explore key administrative law principles and how they support fair, consistent, and legally sound decision-making while respecting individual rights. The course strengthens inspectors’ practical skills in applying Canadian legislation—especially the Food and Drugs Act and its associated regulations—to support accurate interpretation and enforcement during inspections.
Learners will further examine how to analyze legislative provisions, properly identify and cite legal authorities, and understand jurisdictional boundaries. The course also highlights important legal limitations that may impact enforcement activities, including considerations related to dwelling houses, as well as the role of incorporated documents and relevant case law.
Learners will be able to explain the core principles of administrative law, apply legislation to inspection scenarios, analyze legislative clauses, identify and cite legislation appropriately, navigate and apply the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) and regulations to inspection scenarios, and identify legal considerations in inspection scenarios.
