Description

Mark your calendars!

The CIRNAC Modern Treaty and Self-Government Agreement Education and Awareness Team is happy to invite you to participate in our learning session focused on the Assessment of Modern Treaty Implications (AMTI).

This new training has been developed with the goal in mind of providing you with the tools, the guidance, and the confidence to complete an AMTI on your own. During this 1.5-hour session, we will introduce some basic information about Modern Treaties and Self-Government Agreements. Then we will discuss the basics of completing an AMTI, and then work through some case studies together. To conclude, we will run through helpful resources available to you, so you can leave the learning session feeling confident in your ability to complete the assessment.

An important note for individuals who haven’t taken or are not aware of the Introduction of Modern Treaty and Self-Government Agreements (MTSG) 101 previously. We highly recommend participating in this foundational course that our team offers prior to this session. Please visit our GCPedia for more information and to register for the training.

We have arranged a series of sessions in both English and French. Please find below the dates and registration links for each session:

• Key Terminology and Historical Context: In the first half of the session, we will cover key concepts and terminology related to Modern Treaties and offer a brief historical overview of treaty-making in Canada.

• Practical Approaches for Engagement: After a short break, we delve into practical approaches that public servants can adopt to consider and include Modern Treaty partners in their work. This part of the training is geared towards enhancing collaboration and effective engagement with Indigenous partners.

• Interactive Q&A Session: We conclude the session with a 20–30 minute Q&A session. This provides an opportunity for more in-depth discussions and clarifications.

We have arranged a series of sessions in both English and French.

Please share this information with colleagues, new employees, students, and anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of Modern Treaties and Self-Government.

If you have any questions or if you require any accommodation, please feel free to contact us at bmtmmtio@rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca.
