Description
Support for Indigenous data sovereignty is a government-wide priority that contributes to Indigenous self-determination. In alignment with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act Action Plan, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is taking a transformational approach to Indigenous data to support First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Nations in developing the capacity they need to collect, manage and use their data for their own needs.
This event will present Indigenous Services Canada’s transformational approach to data sharing with Indigenous partners and organizations as part of its multi-phase initiative to advance Indigenous data sovereignty. The discussion will outline ISC’s data sharing approach, its data governance structure, and the tools and networks it is developing to improve data sharing.
Participants will learn how to efficiently and effectively manage data requests with Indigenous partners and other external stakeholders.
