Description
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a commemorative day to showcase the richness and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis history, cultural expression and stories.
Come sit with Lance Guilbault, cultural teacher and Oshkaabewus (helper) and learn of the traditional teachings of the Tipi. The Tipi has provided shelter to many Indigenous People of Turtle Island and represents unity, the Mother Earth and connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. Lance will share many Tipi teachings that remain relevant today, such as the meaning of the Tipi materials and how they represent the foundations to a healthy home environment and what happens when you take Indigenous People out of the Tipi.
Lance is a teacher dedicated to integrating Indigenous context and perspective into curriculum. He is Cree Anishinaabe from Ochewisiti (Fisher River Cree Nation) in Manitoba, a story teller, and loves to share teachings of cultural significance with others.
