Description

Tungasuvvingat Inuit is pleased to invite you to participate in Inuit Cultural Sensitivity training for service providers who work with Inuit in Ontario and Southern Canada.

This training is designed to give participants a better understanding of the historical, legal, social and political circumstances of Inuit in the South and provide insight into Inuit culture, traditional parenting practices, the effects of colonization and urbanization on Inuit families, and much more.

The 4 hour training is being offered virtually through Zoom from 9:00am-1:00pm Eastern Time, Participants have the option to choose from one of the following date:

Registered participants will receive the Zoom details by email in advance of the event.

The training will be delivered by Sandra Thibaudeau and Katia d'Argencourt. Sandra is from Nunavut and currently lives in Ottawa, as an education and training coordinator. Katia was born in Iqaluit, Nunavut and grew up on an island called Apex (Niaqunnguut).She now resides in Adawe (Ottawa) unceded Anishinaabe Algonquin Territory working as an Education and Training Coordinator within Tungasuvvingat Inuit. She hopes to educate southerners on the importance of cultural sensitivity within the Inuit community and spreading basic knowledge of our people and our past.
