Description

The National Advisory Committee on Residential Schools Missing Children and Unmarked Burials is hosting a National Knowledge Sharing Event scheduled for February 14 & 15, 2025, in Whitehorse, YT. Panels and presentations will include a mix of best practices related to the search process with a focus on data sovereignty, community wellness, repatriation/rematriation, and updates on regional activities. A draft agenda will be available on the registration page.

The National Advisory Committee on Residential Schools Missing Children and Unmarked Burials was created to help First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities’ access independent, trusted, and expert information needed to support their efforts to identify, locate and commemorate their missing children.

The Committee is guided by a Circle of Survivors and is made up of individuals who hold extensive experience in a wide range of fields, including archival research, ground searches, police investigations, forensics, and trauma informed health supports.

The National Knowledge Sharing Event is intended to bring together people already leading and carrying out search activities – as well as leadership in communities who are at earlier stages of considering or planning a search. The event will also be livestreamed and recorded for future use.
