Description

Join us for Geese in the Beads, Métis beaded lanyard workshop, during Indigenous Awareness Week (IAW), an immersive Indigenous lanyard workshop where we’ll weave together culture, creativity, and community - one bead at a time! Led by Christine Evans, she will guide you through an eight-session workshop crafting a beautiful, hand-made lanyard using traditional techniques.

 

 

 

Workshop Details

 

Sessions will be taught in English

First session: May 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM EST (during Indigenous Awareness Week)

Second Session Onwards: Every Wednesday from 12:00–1:00 PM EST

Location: Hybrid. In person at: 130 Colonnade Road S. Online via MS Teams.

Rain Date for Second Session Onwards: In case of rain, an alternate date will be provided

 

 

Registration & Materials (Registration Open Until Friday, May 9th)

 

Fee: $27.96 (covers materials and Eventbrite fee)

Customization: Choose a main colour for your lanyard (other colours for the lanyard will be provided but not guaranteed)

Kit Includes: Beads, paracord, thread, needle pack, suede fabric, beading mat, key ring, badge holder, and glue

Shipping Available: Kits must be picked up if you live in the NCR. If you live outside the NCR and need your kit shipped, email us in advance to ensure it arrives on time.

 

 

These lanyards take time. Like geese migrating, this journey will be steady but rewarding! This workshop will be held weekly until June 25th. Some may need to work on their lanyards between sessions. The first and last session are the most vital to completing your lanyard.
