Description
IAW is an annual federal government, week-long event celebrated the third week of May. First celebrated in 1992, IAW has evolved into a meaningful occasion to honour and learn from the rich cultures and traditions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
This year, the ICC Team in partnership with CSPS, ISC, and other government department has planned a vibrant agenda to celebrate Indigenous culture through activities, sessions, performances, and culinary experiences, with an engaging launch on Tuesday, May 20. These initiatives reflect our commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Call to Action #57 and the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls for Justice #15.2 and #15.3, promoting cultural understanding and respect.
How To Join
During IAW, everyone is invited to join daily live events either in person on the lawn or at the Innovation Center, both located at 130 Colonnade Road S, or online via MS Teams. Engage with speakers, learn from Indigenous perspectives, and celebrate Indigenous cultures. Most events will take place in person, but all are accessible online.
The live link is available here if you would like to participate virtually. Check the schedule for specific times and dates of events and don’t forget to add placeholders in your outlook calendars.
