Description

You’re invited to the first ever Voices of Indigenous Science Panel featuring three guest speakers, Dr. Myrle Ballard, Gùdia (Mary Jane Johnson), and shalan joudry, who will discuss the Role of Indigenous Languages, Stories and Place Names in Indigenous Science. The panel will include opening remarks from Elder Verna McGregor.

As this panel takes place during the month of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we will use this opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the diversity, richness, and complexity of Indigenous languages, stories, and place names. The discussion will highlight how enduring Indigenous scientific systems are fundamental to Canada’s environmental stewardship actions, upholding Indigenous rights, and protecting the well-being of all our relations.
