Description

Join the Bow Valley Pride Network for Where the Rivers Meet: Creating a Culture of Respect for Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer Communities, an interactive three-hour workshop facilitated by the Centre for Sexuality.

This session will explore Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer identities within Indigenous and contemporary 2SLGBTQIA+ contexts, including the impacts of colonization on understandings of gender and sexuality. Participants will build knowledge around respectful terminology while considering how this learning can be put into practice within workplaces, organizations, services, events, and community spaces.

With a focus on the Bow Valley, the workshop will explore practical questions around respectful language, avoiding assumptions and tokenism, creating welcoming spaces, and meaningfully considering Indigenous and Two-Spirit inclusion in organizational practices and community engagement.

This workshop is designed for people with a range of previous experience. Many participants will already have taken part in learning related to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, allyship, respectful language, and inclusive workplaces. The session will provide shared context while creating opportunities for deeper discussion and practical application.
