The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and Health Canada (HC) have taken concrete steps to eliminate barriers with respect to official languages, to support employees in their career advancement and to increase bilingual capacity in the workplace across the country.

French Language Training

SWALT offers a variety of part-time language training courses in both French and English in a group setting. This opportunity is offered to all HC and PHAC employees at minimal cost.

SWALT French teachers use the « Programme de français langue seconde (PFL2) » curriculum, developed by the Canada School of Public Service, as well as a series of courses that will help prepare employees for their second language evaluation (SLE) tests and maintain their second language levels.

English Language Training

SWALT English teachers use the English as–a-second-language training program, developed by the Canada School of Public Services (CSPS), as well as a series of courses that will help employees prepare for their Second Language Evaluation (SLE) and maintain their second language levels.
